Nani and Anderson. How much that we know 'em?


Manchester United is bringing two new stars, Nani and Anderson, to Old Trafford from Portugal. "They're both top players and among the top five in Portugal with Simao Sabrosa, Joao Moutinho and Ricardo Quaresma," Portuguese football journalist Miguel Padayda said. Nani was born in Cape Verde and migrated with his family to Portugal. He grew up in the Amadora district of Lisbon, and started his career in junior football at Massamá, a suburb of Lisbon.In the 2006/2007 season, he made 29 appearances for the Sporting first team scoring five goals. Sporting also won the Portuguese Cup during that season. Everton midfielder Manuel Fernandes is a friend since childhood and the pair used to kick a ball about together on the streets of Lisbon.

Anderson joined Grêmio as a youth player and in 2004 he made his first appearance for the team, scoring one goal in 5 appearances as the team gained promotion back to the top division. In fact, he scored the crucial goal in a game against Nautico.
In April 2005, he played for Brazil in the South American U-17 Championship, and the following October he won the Adidas Golden Ball with his national team at the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
He joined FC Porto in December after only 5 first team appearances with Gremio and made his league debut on 5 March 2006, playing a part in helping the team seal the Portuguese Championship that season. The following season, he made his UEFA Champions League debut in Porto's first group game against CSKA Moscow.

FC United of Manchester is the champion of the North West Counties Football League Division 1(Level 9 of the English soccer league system). They will be promoted to the Northern Premier League Division One North (Level 8). The club was formed in 2005 by Man Utd supporters, many of whom decided to withdraw their financial support for the club following Malcolm Glazer's takeover. Although the majority of the club's support comes from Manchester and the surrounding area, its supporters club has branches in over ten countries including France, Poland, New Zealand, the United States and Canada. The local cable television station Channel M began a monthly series of programmes about the club, the first of which was in January 2006. Television crews from France and the Netherlands have been seen at the team's matches. FC United's two seasons were successful. FC United entered at the tenth level of the English football league system (the second division of the North West Counties Football League) and they were confirmed as champions on 15 April 2006 and followed that up by being crowned as champions of Division 1 on 18 April 2007 and will play in the Northern Premier League Division One North for the 2007-08 season. During the 2005-6 season, they had the fifth-highest average attendance in English non-League football, and the ninety-second highest for all teams playing in English leagues. This attendance ranks above five league clubs, including Bury, with whom FC United share a ground. [1].
